A First Participation in the Labs Program

Matane, July 31, 2025 —  The CDRIN (Centre de Développement et de Recherche en Intelligence Numérique) has been selected, following a rigorous process, to lead a practical workshop as part of the SIGGRAPH 2025 Labs program, taking place in Vancouver from August 10 to 14.

SIGGRAPH is one of the world’s leading events dedicated to computer graphics, interactive technologies, and visual innovation. It annually brings together researchers, artists, developers, and industry professionals to showcase groundbreaking advances in 3D rendering, virtual reality, animation, and artificial intelligence applied to imaging.

Titled “Optimizing Real-Time Gaussian Splat Rendering for Mobile and Standalone VR,” this 90-minute technical session will highlight CDRIN’s expertise in real-time rendering applied to mobile and immersive platforms. Led by Olivier Therrien, researcher and developer at CDRIN, the workshop will explore the fundamentals of Gaussian Splatting technology in Unity, followed by targeted optimizations for mobile GPUs. Conducted in a hands-on format, participants will have the opportunity to practice the proposed methods live.

The Labs program, considered one of SIGGRAPH’s most technical and immersive components, offers masterclass-style sessions designed to foster high-level technical skill transfer through intensive, collaborative learning. Selected workshops aim to concretely enhance participants’ capabilities in line with the latest advances in the field.

By joining the Labs program alongside prestigious actors such as NVIDIA, MIT, Blender, and Epic Games, CDRIN enters a select circle of organizations recognized for advancing the state of the art while bridging applied research and production realities.

This selection underscores the impact of CDRIN’s work in graphics optimization and its structuring role in developing accessible technical solutions for the digital entertainment industry. It also reflects the center’s mission: making complexity useful to serve digital ecosystems and regions. Julien Coll, co-director general and operations at CDRIN, will also be present in Vancouver to foster new collaborations and represent the center on the international stage.

“Being selected by SIGGRAPH to share our expertise in real-time rendering confirms the recognition of our work and our commitment to connecting research and industry.”— Julien Coll, Co-Direction General and Operations
